Hi All,

Well i've been on a few forums trying to rectify the dfu mode in Leopard 10.5.6 for jailbreaking my iPhone 3g, was hoping someone could shed some light on what could be done so i can still jailbreak. I've tried pwnage tool and followed the instructions to no avail, this isn't the first time i've jailbroken the iPhone so i do know what to expect when going through the motions etc.

Basically getting the last stage of holding the "Home" button and iTunes opens then it says that "a ipod has been detected but could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod then try again. Error 2001"

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D Thanks in advance

If your iPhone is already jailbroken, using recovery mode (different to DFU mode) should allow you to jailbreak again. You can do this by holding down the home button and plug/dock your iPhone to your Mac/PC until you see an iTunes icon and a USB cable on your iPhone's screen.

Yeah i've tried this method too, it's still not working. I've had to do a restore through iTunes so now it's not jailbroken.
I'll try again the pwnage method.

It's a known problem, a change accidentally incurred by Apple. At the moment afaik there isn't a solution. The devteam recommend staying on 10.5.5.

Yeah I even think the dev team recommend on their website that if your having accessing DFU mode through 10.5.6 that you try using the Pwnagetool on a Windows box and it will work just fine. I must have the same trouble that your having because I spent a good 2 hours trying to sort out my mates iPhone at uni but to no avail (I am running 10.5.6 on my MacBook Pro.)
