10.8 Broke my scaling

Why do You need scaling ?, If Your monitor/tv accepts 1920x1080 feed it 1:1 . HDMI does more than connect a digital signal, no end of copy protection could be messing with resolution and I don't see that's ATI ( or whatever they call themselfs now) fault they have probably just had to comply with new DRM rubbish !

these drivers have fixed all the issues i had. I had a very annoying issue with mass effect 2 having framerate spikes. all fixed and all good. isnt 32" abit large for a monitor? why dont you just go back to 10.7 if it was working fine?

Restart the machine with the scaling you want and it should be applied within the games. I had this problem on my 26" Panasonic screen and it worked fine after this '1920x1080 60hz' if anyone is wondering.

I think the problem is that the new driver doesn't actually scale properly to fit the screen with default settings with HDMI, you need to tell it to scale the image to fit the screen.

i've always needed to set the scaling setting for my 27" monitor when i first install any ati driver.

but i have the same issue with 10.8.

they should start a fresh set of drivers completly imo, nothing has been any good for me since 10.4b, everything else seems broken since then
+1 there's been pretty much no difference since the 10.4s.

I've had the same scaling problem too and I recently upgraded to w7 so I'm glad it wasn't my rig ha, it's fine going back to 10.7s though

I have the same problem. i just changed my htpc from on board 690g chipset graphics to a 5450. Changed the HDD too so a new install of win7 x64 and cat 10.8. Previously I had needed to set the overscan to 0% on a new install. Now it forgets the setting on reboot.
Connected by hdmi to panny 50" plasma

Further reading I have done suggests the problem will also occur if I switch dynamic refresh range changin on in mediaportal but I haven't got that far with this install yet. Other people have reported the issue going above cat 10.3 but i will try 10.7 when I get home.

I can see registry settings for each res which appear to change when scaling is switched to 0%. I have ensured these are still the same on reboot. Opening CCC shows the scaling slider bar at 0% but there is still underscan. When I nudge the slider it jumps back to the correct overscan level.

Any other fixes out there?

EDIT: tried 10.7 cats and works as it should

It looked like ATI were back on form up to 10.4, since then driver support has slowly gone down hill, going by reports on many forums and the number of people selling this generation ATI's and moving to GF100/GF104 and reporting much better experience on the green side. Hope they hit top gear again real soon.

the only thing thats keeping at ati is the performance.

if/when Nvidia become performance kings again at a decent price i will move faster than a Manchester City transfer target.

I have this problem too, annoys the hell outta me.

Ways that I have fixed it is, restart runtime, or just open ccc and it makes changes.

It is a bit lame tho, enabled gpu scaling and my display never could get a signal, weird how <10.7 worked fine.
