Hey guys, just looking for a Tablet for my Dad,he's had an S2 for about 10 months and his old laptop is getting beyond logical to use, so he is looking at tablets, well, I am for him.

i want to stay Android, as having an ipad & android phone will further confuse him, so looking for:

  • Android
  • 10"
  • Smooth, not clunky
  • Decent resolution
  • Under/around £220

Any ideas on this? :)

Thanks

OcUK's shopping web site has a few 9.7" Android tablets at around the £200 mark. Just had a look, although you may want to wait for more responses to see if there are any reviews of them.

If you went 7" you could get him the Nexus 7 2.

He's pretty adament he wants to go around a 10" screen, being 67 he wants the bigger screen to use, I'd love to go Nexus 10 but they're a bit our of price range for value for the usage they'll get!

Thats what i was thinking, but, as you said, no reviews make you a bit wary, heard nightmare stories about a lot of Android tablets being painfully slow & underpowered.

Google the Ainol Novo 9 9.7" retina display, 2gb ram etc tablet, I have seen plenty of these Ainol tablets coming through and have to say they are getting stronger and stronger. the ips screens are great £137 plus postage from Ainol themselves but local suppliers can be found on the net.

Pipo M9pro is what you want. Decent HD res, 2gb, 32gb, GPS, Bluetooth, RK3188 quad. All for less than £200.

*edit*

M9pro, not M6.

The Point of View Mobii 945 looks fairly solid at that price point but never tried one myself.

Don't bother with the POV stuff. I tried the 945 tablet and it was awful. The replacement was also just as bad. Shame because the specs looked great

+1 for Ainol (snigger).

Bought my mum the Venus 7 and its cracking for the money. Ainol seem to be fairly competent with firmware updates too.

Take a look at the CUBE U30GT2 it's 1920X1200 RK3188 quad core, 10.1 inch 4.2.2 android\OTG for about £150-£180

I got the 32GB version coming this week.

The Pipo M9pro is pretty much the same spec but includes GPS, newer bluetooth (4 vs 2), a higher nit (brighter) PLS panel, stereo speakers rather than mono - for the same price as the CUBE. That, and Pipo are regarding as being pretty much the best ChinaTab producers in terms of build quality and value.

The only problem is that due to it being so new, no wholesalers have it in the UK yet so you have to get it shipped from China. Mine's due in a week :)

Mine has BT 4 it's just the new rom is still in the testing stage. I've got a good GPS unit so I will use that.
The other reason I picked the Cube is that 3 sites are doing custom roms for it.
And both are in the UK take a look on the bay
