Well I just read that it has been 10 years since Goldeneye was released on the N64. The amount of hours I spent on that with singleplayer and 4 player, well, must have been a lot.

I thought I would make this thread for the nostalgia and appreciation of Goldeneye, one of the best games ever.

Would releasing it on the arcade be a bad/risky move?

Brilliant game. I remember playing 1 shot 1 kill, 4 player with me mates for weeks on end.

Blimey! 10years

The N64 and Goldeneye+Mario Kart was my pinnacle of gaming. Absolutely brilliant times they were, far better than this so called 'next gen', lol:)

That was the golden age of video gaming in my oppinion, which i think ended with the release of the Playstation 2 in 2000. (not saying gaming is bad nower days by the way)

I'm not sure if a remake would be a good idea... If it gets redone it would have to be absolutely fantastic and almost perfect.

Anything less and it just wouldn't do the original justice.

Sensible Soccer remakes anyone?

T'was an awesome game though, that and Mario Kart 64 ate up so much of my console time with mates :)

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I really could not see what the fuss was about for Goldeneye. Being a PC FPS multiplayer gamer it seemed like a step down for me playing games like Quakeworld at the time. It had horrible framerates, silly controls and was downright just bad.

In my opinion of course.

Agreed, so many classics in that time period. Goldeneye, Mario kart 64, Mario 64, OoT, Banjo-Kazooie, Diddy Kong Racing etc. They certainly don't make them as good as they did.

Ah goldeneye... it was before the days of big online/console lans/tournaments so every tool thought they rocked at it because they could beat all of their mates :p

Great game!

Defiantly one of my favourite games of all time! I was 10 at the time and at that crazy console obsessed stage and I seriously hit the roof getting an N64 that christmas !! Is crazy how you find things so much more exciting when youre younger! Was the happest day of my life I swear!

i completely agree, i never got into golden eye on release due to being a big pc gamer, i finally played it after playing halo for a while and all my mates were telling me how it was still the best MP FPS around and it just seemed cack to me.

You played it 5 years too late, just like if you play Halo today after never playing it before it would be average (imo).

- with a game like goldeneye on the n64, this kid can be excused for his reaction.

- amazing trailer!

- 'real life' goldeneye, watch if only for the sounds!

I agree that Goldeneye 64 was a really special game, it was a masterpiece both in single and multiplayer, the time of getting your mates together for a good laugh around the TV none of this namby pamby billy no mates headset rubbish.

Other golden age mentions for me would be Mario 64 (N64), Formula One '95 (the original), Gran Turismo, Resident Evil & Final Fantasy 7 all on PS1.

The N64/PS1 era was definitely the golden age of gaming for me, almost all games nowadays have too much emphasis on pretty graphics rather than sheer brilliant gameplay and long-term playability, Gears of War being a perfect example.
