10 Month Bonus Accelerator?

For me it does, as I have no NCB, so the extra I pay will be massivly offset by the lower premium that comes with 1 yr ncb. It obviously depends on your circumstances

After the 10 months you will have a full proper +1 to your ncb that other insurers will accept

No, you will not.

I tried this with Norwich Union, and when I went to Endsleigh they only accepted the NCB as I had been with NU for a year anyway. Had it been 10 months only NU would have accepted it, which was a lot higher on my premium than Endsleigh were.

I went from Norwich Union to Churchill using the accelerated bonus scheme. The wording on my renewall with Norwich Union stated "You have 30 months no claims (which is equivilant to 3 years NCB)", and Churchill were happy to honour it as long as "3 years NCB" was stated on my renewall.

With EUI (admiral, elephant, bell) the 10 months is valid as 1 year with other insurance companies

Yup - had the same experience myself. After your 10 months are up, you get a proof of no claims letter/certificate (previous NCD + 1). Post this away to your next insurers if they ask for it.

They proof you get doesn't show policy length or start dates. Iirc, it's just end date and number of years no claims - all your next insurer is interested in.

I got told that by NU, but Endsleigh were very reluctant to do it, and decided they would, only because I had my policy with NU for 12 months.

That was 3 years ago admittedly, and almost nowhere I saw other than NU did these bonus schemes, and now certainly a lot of companies are running them so I guess the view will have changed.

Didn't meant that to be quite so dead cert on it not being carried over. :)

I did it with Admiral, never again.

I did 10 months and ended the policy.

Went to another Insurance company, told them i had a years NCB. Asked for proof, i rang Admiral and asked for them to send it me, and they wouldn't. In the "small print" was a requirement that 10 month accelerator was possible providing that i had 2 years cover with them.

I had to pay a premium to stay with the existing company to make up for it. Cowboys.

Easiest answer is to phone them and see just what they offer now, the rules may have changed. I often find that stuff listed online is not the full details, but you get the full details through the post, once ordered/taken out policy.

Weird, because I've had policies with Admiral, Elephant and Bell (in that order), and Admiral/Bell have both given me a certificate stating 1yr NCB after completing a 10 month policy without any claims. The Bell policy ran out at the end of November. The insurance renewal notification I received from them when they wanted me to renew stated the 1yr NCB, with absolutely no sign of how long the policy was.

Maybe it's changed?

I took out a 10 month policy with Admiral on my old Astra (this was four years ago) and after the 10 months I moved to Endsleigh. Admiral sent out the proof of NCB and Endsleigh were happy to accept it - they didn't even query it

I'm on my third set of 10 month policies with Admiral on my MG at present (I had an accident in the Astra and lost it). I haven't changed simply because Admiral have either offered a decent renewal price or matched a cheaper quote at renewal. If I change when this policy is up I fully expect to have three years of NCB, even though I only have 30 months of actual cover
