10 second lock ups.....Help!

Hey all

Having a problem in certain games where the game will lock up for 10 or so second and then comes back to life. only certain games are doing it. colin mcrae 2005, fifa 07 and TDU are all fine. but C&C3 demo and live for speed seem to be the worst for doing it

any idea what could be going on ?

Need to update all drivers (mobo, gpu, sound etc) or crap running in the background i would suspect. I'd be inspecting task manager to see whats using CPU time, full adware/virus scan too.

How much memory do you have?

yeah was worried it could be that, its all runnin at stock speeds tho

Smart Guardian reckons my Chipset is running aat 48 degrees, that couldnt be causing an issue could it ?

That's fine.

You could rule out your RAM by burning Memtest86+ to a CD/floppy and running it check your RAM. Although tbh, if your RAM was causing the problem I would be expecting complete crashes or possibly corruption and/or extreme jerkyness. 10 second pauses sounds more software than hardware related i would have said.

yeah this is what i was thinking

I have got 93.71 forceware installed atm, as i got TDU working correctly with them, so it might just be that the other games dont like the older drivers?

Will try mem test tho
