I've got a budget of about £100 and am looking at getting an 8800GT within the next week. I realise there are some new cards coming out very soon though and could hold back till the end of June at a push.

Now it's crystal ball time, do you think there'll be a price drop and I'd be better spending my £100 in a months time?

I don't think theres going to be anything better in the £100 region in a months time and I doubt that the price on the GT will drop much... you might see the GTS G92 dropping down in price tho to not much above your £100...

mmm Golf VR6 love those cars, need to get me one.

Cheers for the advice, defo recommend a VR6 it's a great car :)

8800 GT is a cracking card for the price, but i wouldn't wait, as i doubt they'll drop in price when the new cards appear, as those are a higher performance, and so a higher tier, so i doubt mid/low range will change.

yea not going to be a big drop if any tbh, but check the mm cause there are a lot floating around the for sale section on several forums atm for around 80 or 90

the Radeon 4850 should hit at around £100, it's just an underclocked 4870 from what i could tell, which should make it faster than an 8800GT, especially if you crank the speeds back up.
I'd wait for the benchies, only another two weeks or so until the NDAs come off.

I'm very dubious about buying gfx cards from the members market. I've already bought one dud from there but fair kudos to the seller, he did give me a refund.

I'm in a similar position really. I've got a 7800GT and have been thinking about getting a new card sometime but I think I'll just wait it out because I'm in no rush and have no new game that I want to play on it.

I'm an ex VR6 owner, god I miss that car, the sound was awesome and it got me from Plymouth to Gordano services at Bristol in just over an hour and a quarter once :D Owning one with the tax and petrol prices at the moment must be awful.

Finally, someone has said what I've been thinking for quite some time.

Mid range/low range cards won't budge much in terms of price I wouldn't have thought. Certainly not as soon as the new stuff comes out.

I would imagine that for £100 there's a possibility you could get a GTS when the new stuff comes (well, maybe a bit more than £100), so I would make the decision based on what res you play whether you wait or not.

I'm thinking the 8800GT might drop to around £95 for awhile and the GTS to around £120 when the new stuff is out.

Yea mint car, tax isn't a problem cause of its age and I only do about 3k miles per year so petrol isn't an issue either.
