so quite recently i started my pc again after fixing a ram issue everything was fine playing games such as counterstike go but have started having the problem where my cpu usage % on task manager rises up to 90-100% very easy i tested it on some games and even rose up to 96% on half life 1
the cpu i run is a intel i5-7400 at 3ghz if there is anyone who can help troubleshoot please respond thankyou

How did you fix the RAM issue?
Could your computer be doing a background task, virus check, file indexing or similar?
What value would you expect your old CPU to pull in games? Are they stuttering, or flowing smoothly?

the ram issue was my fault just wasnt in properly and didnt bother checking it for months as i was busy and my game dosent stutter on frame drop only on bigger titles such as squad etc. yet i feel it should be able to run the bigger titles smoother

as per Destinations recommendation, make sure you don't have any background tasks running, I've seen the MSI live update app eat up CPU bandwidth like crazy before, it could be something like that or anti-virus etc.

nope ive checked all of these programs nothing is eating it up it just easily reaches max cpu % even if the game was made in the early 2000's no lag or frame drop just major increase on cpu %

well, CS:Go is quite CPU intensive, and you're running a mid-entry level CPU. Couple that with being a bit low on RAM (16Gb really the norm now) and the 1060 3Gb model, you'll be relying on the CPU a bit more than is needed, not really much that can be done, have you tried lowering settings / FPS etc, does that help at all?

If it's running fine then why is this a problem? Did it not do this before? I've seen windows update and OneDrive lock the CPU at 100%, OneDrive took my CPU for weeks before I noticed once  Don't even use it either.
