£100 rebate for ipod excludes new ipod videos :s

My cousin just called to order his macbook and was going to order one of the new 30gig ipods but he was told they could only offer him the old one.
Is this because they got no stock of the new ones or just because they dont want to offer money off the new ones?

even though £70 or so for a 30gig ipod video is a hell of a good deal....dont u jus want one of the new ones!! battery life, brighter screen, search and so on.
