Simple question I hope...

Is there anyway I can be 100% sure about this problem.

I have 2 8gb sticks of ram that were running fine in dual channel.

Then with no change my desktop wouldnt even get to bios

It works 100% stable in single channel with both sticks in

I don't know anyone with a new enough pc to check the ram in dual channel outside my system....

Whats the issue Mobo OR Ram? I need to be 99% sure before I send the wrong bit back..

did you test both sticks one at a time to see if they get you into the bios/windows?

do this test for both ram slots aswell

be sure to flash to the latest mb bios and setup x.m.p if your memory supports it

if it wont boot from either ram slot with just the one ram stick yet works fine with the other ram stick then you need to rma the memory for another kit

the same slot on the mobo doesn't work - so i think it's a mobo issue - single ram chan in the other 3 slots is ok for either stick

fair assumption?

that slot doesnt work with either of the ram sticks?

if so try loosening the cpu heatsink cooler, try a quarter turn on each mounting screw,if that doesnt cure it carefully inspect the cpu socket for any bent pins,be carefull when checking though not to damage any
