I've got about £100 to spend and I was thinking of either upgrading my CPU to a Q6600 or me Graphics Card to a 8800GTX, which do you think I should go for.

Lol @ thread already. :p

Well let me think, the Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail is £180.94 inc VAT. So its over budget, you cant get it, Sorry.

The OcUK GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - OEM is £291.39 inc VAT and thats also over budget, so you cant get it. Im sorry.:D

I'm assuming you must be selling off your existing parts to fund the purchase? As otherwise Justintime is right to query although you couldn't actually post where to get them.

What are your uses? It doesn't really make any sense to recommend you a graphics card if you are into number crunching etc.

Also your signature is too long, the text doesn't autowrap at 400pixels long so you need to put in the returns yourself. :)

Nowhere but selling what I've already got I thought I would only need to add an extra £100 onto whatever I get for whatever one I decide to upgrade.

Perhaps if you sold your current component AND used that 100 you'd be able to upgrade one or the other. I'd take the GTX if gaming is your biggest concern. Otherwise I'd take the Q6600.

In that case the graphics card is probably the best upgrade you could make although I think you may need to add slightly more than £100 given the price of the 8800GTX.

Thanks for editing your signature so promptly as well. :)

No worries on the sig. I thought I'd be able to sell me 8800GTS for around £200 and the OcUK GTX is on special this week for under £291 which I think is certainly one of the cheapest if not the cheapest.
