Its DDR2, uses the newer ICH10 southbridge and the P45 chip is newer and cooler than the X48 from what I have read. The X48s have got proper x16x16 crossfire though, while that P45 only has x8x8. Not a massive dealbreaker, but should be taken into account if you plan on using multi-GPU.
That said, those X48 boards are very solid and are available for a great price. Which ever you go for - you will be getting a great motherboard.
