The weak link in my setup (see my sig) is about to give up the ghost. Twice today the system has rebooted of it's own accord, with a series of beeps exclaiming 'No VGA'. The X1950 is five and a half years old, and therefore well out of warranty I'd expect. It cost me £150 from OCUK back then, and I think it's done me well - it's lasted twice as long as the X800 that preceded it.

I use it's two DVI ports currently, so ideally another two would be useful. That said the 2408 can accept HDMI (no difference in quality to DVI?) and Display Port - so dual DVI is not essential.

I am not a gamer, but I do use Lightroom, Elements and Sony Vegas - so a bit of a kick might be handy.

Where's the best place to put a nominal sum of £100 on a GFX card these days? I'm flexible on that amount. I know naff all about such things! I'd like something that'll stand up to another 5 years use without any dramas.

OK, thanks - the one review on that card says it's relatively noisy - are there any suitable quiet cards within my budget?

Most cards can be controlled with msi afterburner, you could always give overclockers a call to ask them.

I dont think the review is totally correct as most graphics cards have fanspeed/temp control.

noise changes person to person. One man's noisy is anothers' quiet.

The 6850, as graphics cards go, is pretty quiet. It wouldn't really make sense for MSI to make a noisier version of it :)

The dual fan version from another thread is reported to be loud as the fan speed is constantly stuck at 100% due to the lack of a PWM wire on the fans.
