100 Watts

What is the usual minimum peak and average Wattage requirements for the whole of the UK?

I see folks publishing figures for different forms of energy and what thye might provide us, but what are the UK averages min and peaks?

I can't see a future low carbon economy without a sizeable portion of energy coming from nuclear. Renewables either aren't scalable or aren't base load capable.

I've got a BSc in physics and i'm doing a masters in energy and environment so I am reasonably knowledgeable on the subject.

For sure; Nuclear and CCS will provide stability. Renewables will soon ramp up though; Round 2 & 3 Offshore developments just kicking off and some fairly big wave and tidal projects in the pipeline.

Depends, in Northern ireland, until recently we have only had one company a consumer can buy electric from and their rate was 14.15per unit with +5%vat added after, if you paid by DD, they gave a 4% discount, making you pay around 15p a unit.
ow airtricity have started competition, and their unit rate is fixed to be 2p per unit less than NIE for the next 12 months, so folks are switching.
Its a considerable difference, but i think some companies in England seem to offer unit rates as low as 7 or 8 pence per unit.
Really do wonder why we pay so much.
