£1000 build help

hi there my friend has decided to make a turn for the best and come to pc gaming and has asked me to help but im not sure what the best parts for the price are at the moment he has set a budget of around £1000 but that must include a monitor
and another budget for keyboard and mouse

just wondering if you guys had a few opinions for what is best to get at this moment in time for the price

You would only save on the cpu, which currently would be £35. Not really enough to make it worthwhile.
