Posted over on reddit but figured the more peoples input the better, don't have much of a clue what's compatible, what's worth spending extra on for longevity etc.

Basically i want to give pc gaming a good go, 12 months till the next consoles come out so i thought that's a good amount of time to try out pc gaming, if afer 12 months i'm not enjoying pc gaming i should be able to sell most of the pc/peripherals on for not too much of a loss hopefully, if i am enjoying it though i will likley upgrade some components around the time of the next xbox, maybe jump up to 1440p and use the 1080p monitor i will have for this build as a 2nd screen.

I currently game on an xbox one X and a 120inch projector screen, so i will need pretty much everything in the build cost, i will also need a desk and a chair but i will keep that seperate from the £1000ish pc build price,i'm 6ft6 so proving difficult to find a solid chair for me, as for desk i'm looking at a ikea gerton and some legs for it, if anyone has any chair reccomendations i'm all ears.

Here's what i've came up with so far, is it all compatible and quality products? or are there better price/performance components i should be switching, planning on having 2 140mm intake fans and the 1 rgb 140mm exhaust fan.

The only components missing really is a better cpu cooler than the stock 3600 one and a monitor, i am unsure on what monitor to get, TN, IPS, VA? 24 or 27 inch?

I plan on playing most AAA game releasing in the next 12 months, Cyberpunk, DOOM eternal, Ori, also a vast array of current/older games like Fallen order, PUBG, APEX, Overwatch, Destiny 2, Witcher, Nioh etc Probably wont be playing much of the competative fps i listed at the start as i have 0 experience with M/KB. Also want to try out emulators, seen footage breath of the wild at 1080p 60fps and it looks glorious.

You can't post competitor links as this forum is paid for and managed by OcUK.

As a start, this would be my suggestions:
  • Case is personal preference, but I like the design
  • Mouse & KB are suitable for gaming
  • You could always use a controller if you don't get on with the M&KB
  • You could go for 27" 1440p but that would increase the overall cost as monitor prices increase when you hit that resolution
My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,095.95 (includes shipping: £18.12)

Thanks for the the suggestions.
Oh sorry, never knew you couldn't post links from other sites, my bad.
What's overclockers return policy like? I often hear a lot of people have bad luck with monitors, would hate to buy one and not like it or for it to have any issues.

There's something about the Meshify c i just like, also i hear it's really good to build in for begginers.
I see you never included any case fans? presuming the meshify c comes with a few fans as stock? how easy/hard is it to add extra fans after i've built it,may add some more a few weeks after to improve thermals.
Is that the most reliable psu? heard good things about corsair rm/rmx and evga supernova, is the one i chose no good?
Also heard that particular gpu isn't all that good, loud/hot. the better ones will cost almost £80 or more than the gtx 1660ti.

The 1660TI is an absolutely terrible buy at the moment. You're better off saving £40-50 and getting a 1660 Super which performs within a couple of fps, or spending the extra £40-50 and getting a 5700.

That Vega 64 listed by @orbitalwalsh is actually a solid option.

OCUK have a great return policy.

one problem with nvidia is getting cheap sync screen option £200 vs £140 along with no IPS or VA panels :(

Super 1660 is def more of a better buy the 1660 Ti :)

seems vega 56 is £250 floating between 1660S and 1660ti pricing .

You've got an ATX motherboard and a mATX case.

There's something about the Meshify c i just like,

Then go for it. Fractal Design make nice cases. The Tomahawk Max has four four-pin headers for case fans and the case includes two fans. I would replace the front 120mm fan with a 140mm fan and add two more 140mm fans.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £155.11 (includes shipping: £12.30)

If you want more fans later on then you can get yourself a fan hub.

What ram would people reccomend? don't have a clue, always though the higher mhz the better, but been reading about timings and cl16/cl18 etc. was thinking 3600mhz cl18 but some people said 3000mhz cl16 or 3200mhz cl16. So confused.

If adding fans after i've built is easy i will likely do it that way just to keep the initial cost down, one reason why i've not gone for a better cpu cooler.
