Hi,

Wanting to build a gaming pc with a tight budget of £1000 or below.

I already have a 1440p 144hz monitor.

Basically need the tower and all parts inside it.

I want to stick with NVIDIA so 4070 maybe super.

CPU can be amd or intel.

1 tb of storage will be enough.

Not sure how windows license works theses days are they expensive?

I'm unsure on case size, PSU, ram etc looking for help with that.

Full build list from ocuk would be great.

Thanks for help and advice

Depends what/where you're willing to buy, they can be very cheap or very expensive.

DDR4: 32GB of something cheap, 3200 or 3600.
DDR5: 32GB of something cheap, ideally a minimum of 5600 or 6000. With AM5, I wouldn't go above 6400.

Case, not particularly important if you're happy with MATX/ATX as there are lots of good cases for not much money. ITX is different, this can get expensive and complicated.
PSU: most PSU ranges start at 650 or 750 and I don't recommend less than that for a modern build, because it gives you some headroom for upgrades to a higher-end card. 850 is a bit safer if you can afford it, but 750 should cope with almost anything on the market right now.

Thanks for the replies guys just what I was after.

The above build is a intel CPU and mobo. What would the equivalent AMD CPU be ?

If you wanted some platform longevity you'd need to go AM5 socket and probably something like a 7600.

If you didn't care about that, you could pick up a 5700x3d for about £170 and AM4 mobo + DDR4 ram is pretty cheap. Would struggle to justify buying into a dead platform at this stage though

You can run Windows without activating it untill you buy a key.

You do lose some functions like changing colour schemes, setting a theme, using a custom background, changing the lock screen and you will have a notification on the lower right of your screen.

depends on the update cycle some people build a system and run it for 4-5 years then just build a new one

toying with AM5 myself at the minute or 1700 and a i5-14600k

The exact equivalent of a 12400F+B760/H610 would be Ryzen 5600/5600X+B550/A520. The performance of those CPUs is very similar. With AMD price cuts, you'd have to check carefully because often the X models and the 5700X/5800X can be weirdly close to the 5600. Note that the 5600G and 5700 are not the same CPUs and I don't recommend them unless much cheaper.

i would still pony up the extra £100 to get an AM5 build (but as always, shop around and you may find that it would be less than an extra £100 :) )
i would also swap the mobo to the asrock b650m-hdv/m.2 - same price but not stocked at ocuk
