Hi,

Trying to find a decent gaming laptop for a friend at work, he plays LoL, GW2, Skyrim and will be expanding onto more demanding titles with the laptop.

I'm not the best for laptops however I saw the MSI GT70 and thought that would suit him perfectly for what he needs but need some extra options on this.

Budget is around the 1k mark but can be higher without an issue, looking for solid performance and he wants to order this weekend. I have recommended waiting for Haswell and the new Nvidia GPU's but I think the current tech will do him nicely.

Opinions?

Yes, a desktop computer.

Wow that was helpful!

the £1000 mark for a gaming PC is quite difficult if you want more than a midrange gfx card.
Your best best is the Dell outlet. You can often pick up a m17x r4 with 7970m for about £1000 delivered.

There are other places you could get a clevo from for about £1000 but I cannot mention them due to being a competitor

Thanks for the idea's, shall have a look around. Trying to make sure I find something that's the best bang for buck around £1000 rather than a tray of junk!

!!!WAIT!!!

As you said, if he waits until the first weekend in June, The first Haswell/7xx series laptops will be at large. Not that long a wait for the whole nect geneation of CPU/GPU and all the benefits that come with it.

^ I know and have discussed this with him. If anything especially with gaming laptops there is going to be a slight premium on the newer cpu and gpu's as they're new tech, which can bump the price up slightly.

I am going to discuss this a lot further today with him so will see. It's his decision in the end, but if it were me I'd be waiting!
