Big power supply in case you want to go crossfire later (the case/motherboard are also fine for this.) CPU cooler in case you want to overclock, SSD for nice fast boot times.

If you need more storage space a 1TB drive isn't too much more expensive:

This is a much better build .

While I could have gone for the GTX 580, I designed my build with future upgrades in mind. The HD 6950 can also be flashed to a 6970 and 6970 crossfire performance is quite impressive.

Also the PSU you've suggested isn't modular which means cable management is a bit of a pain (850W PSUs have a LOT of cables...)

If you want insane gaming performance and you're not fussed about the SSD however:

£420 for Crossfire HD 6950s vs £396 for a single GTX 580. Although I'm not usually a fan of dual card setups I know which I'd pick there. :)

I can offer some advice as I built a system recently pretty much for gaming

Get a i5 sandybridge, the i7 isn't worth it for gaming

Go for Nvidia over ATI, either 570 or 580 - youre not really gonna notice a massive differerence with a 580 which is gonna cost u a bomb

You'll want an SSD of a minimum of 120 gig you have to remember Win 7 is quite huge and as are most games the days.

Ram depends on if you want to overclock or not, if youre not bothered (I don't see much point as the system doesn't need it) You'll be ok buying just some standard DDR3 1600mhz which is quite cheap. You won't go wrong with corsair.

Case is entirely what you like the look of.

I dont think any of the nvidia/SB setups are specced that way because they are fans. It's because it's the best components/performance for the money usually.

Exactly , why spend money stupidly when you can just do some research and get the best components for your money .

I would go for this but maybe spend a little bit more on the motherboard and get something like this:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-443-AS&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1906

This way you wont need to swap it out at a later date :D and you can go SLI with the 570 at a later date as the board originally suggested only supports crossfire iirc.

For gaming the i5 is probs your best bet, no point in splashing out on i7 as the gains are minimal.

I wouldn't say avoid the AMD based system but you would be better off with an i5 at present, and no I'm not a fanboy lol.
