I would like some help with a spec for a new desktop with a budget of a maximum £1000. I need everything including a monitor, operating system etc.

I will use the PC for gaming, mainly World of Warcraft but I would also like to be able to play the new games very well. I don't plan on upgrading again in the near future and will be buying it in the next couple of days.

I also have no experience with overclocking and probably won't try it. My current build would be something like.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forums, that all looks pretty good. I might suggest going for an X1900XT 256mb as you should be able to squeeze it into the budget.

It also would be a bit of a shame not to overclock when the parts you have selected are so good for it but you can always try later. :)

as you said that £1000 was max, and you have £50 left to spare on that spec, you could upgrade the graphics card and/or add a soundcard

I may try overclocking but I'm not confident with it so I basically wanted a spec that isn't dependant on it. I also thought that a slight improvement in graphics/sound would be worthwhile but unsure what to chose.

Oh and thank you for the replies

The specification will be fast without overclocking but you do have the potential there at least which is good.

The onboard sound is pretty decent by all accounts so unless you have a great speaker system then I'd probably spend the money on upgrading the graphics card as I think it will make more of a difference. :)

OcUK GeForce 7950 GT 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-046-OK)

Would this be a good upgrade to the graphics card? I would then be at the max of my budget. Is the core 2 duo the way to go for my system or the AMD X2's? Also does the PSU seem ok?

currently core2duo till amd bring a bigger and better cpu out :P

also for a extra £20 you culd get a lot better psu

edit:// i see the psu comes with case ?

If you dont plan to overclock i'd suggest you get a cheaper mainboard like the asrock conroexfiresata2, and get a 1900xt instead of the gt.
