Hi Guys.

Could some kind hearted person spec me a Conroe/8800GTS PC for £1000.00. I'm looking for a flying machine, but appreciate the possible need to throttle back due to the budget constraints.

I'll need... Case/Conroe/8800GTS/PSU/Mboard/Ram/Coolers.

Looking for tried and tested components.

Any suggestions?

If you wanted to spend all your money you could upgrade the CPU to an e6600 or the GPU to a 8800 GTX.

Bookmarked ;)

Melbournes spec is very good, that would be 'flying-machine' for sure :) I would however personally recommend the Noctua NH-U12F for the after-market cooler, the TT is still a very good cooler though :)

erm horrific idea wasting that much money on an OTT PSU.

SAve your money and get a corsair 520W / 620W and put the money you save into an E6600 which will be much faster. Or just keep the E6300 and overclock and put the money saved on the PSU into a better board like an asus P5B-D

Isn't it wise to spend some dosh on a good PSU, afterall, if that thing gives up the ghost, you could potentially say goodbuye to everything else in the case! Also, a nice fat 850watt might give me some options for upgrades for possible 8900 in the future... oh, and overclocking.

I might be talking crap... I'm new to this self-build business.

It just depends really i think you'll be ok with the corsair if you never intend to go sli.Get your drift though may aswell buy a psu that will last 4 years than buy one that will last 2.But the corsairs do have a 5 year guarantee which is nice
if it breaks down or blows up.

Corsair had their 620W PSU running a quad core with 2 x 8800 GTXs in SLi no sweat. The 520W is more than capable of handling any single gfx card rig. Like the man said, spend the money on a e6600 if you must spend more.

Just like melbourne said their PSU's can run anything. They have something like 3 or 4 12V rails too.

The higher *** power rating of a PSU doesnt mean it's actually that efficient, or even reflect quality. THe corsair PSU's are the best ones out at the moment, with the seasonics also being very very good
