So £1000 After VAT, before Shipping ;), for a gaming PC. All I need is the main unit. The monitor I will get later (22" wide), k/b and all that gubbins is sorted.

I've been leaning towards the Akasa Eclipse as a case as well, i'd also like 4gig for future proofing.

Any other Q's let me know.

Hey :-)

I'd wait until this afternoon before getting a spec, as the "This Week Only" offers are refreshed at lunch time and they might have something on offer that'd be great for you. If you wanted a spec now however just say and I'll knock you something up for your budget. Also, will you need an operating system?

Something like the below would be great I think for you.

Included 4GB and the Eclipse case and you wanted. Added a good sound card although not sure if you needed one or not. The sound card is PCI-E 1x which I thought would be handy due to the boards design layout and it won't cause any issues with the 2nd or 1st PCI-E 16x slot in case you decided to utilise the 2nd one for either another graphics card or maybe even a RAID card.

The whole spec itself is £10 under the budget (without delivery as requested) to allow for a price hike in the RAM as the RAM I have picked is on "This Week Only" and will go back to normal price this afternoon, so I thought I'd leave that little bit buffer to accomodate that.

Okay have 2 questions, would the new thermalright not be a better cooler? and also, in regards to the C2Q, is it not better to have a higher clocking C2D for pure power in games?

If you mean the Thermalright IFX-14 then not really no. The cooler has proved to be not much more efficient at cooling than the Ultra 120 Extreme and even then that cooler is only a degree or two away from the Tuniq Tower. If you were massively into overclocking then it is probably worth getting the Ultra 120 Extreme but due to it's cost and the fact it doesn't come with a fan you're looking at an extra £25 - £30 to get that with a good fan (Akasa Amber / Scythe S-Flex).

At the moment I'd have to say yes, because not many games utilise quad cores as they will in 6 months. For future proofing however quad all the way, so games in 6 months that use a quad core (like Alan Wake and UT3) will run better. If you wanted a higher clocked C2D now then I would suggest the E6750, skip the E6850 as it's a waste of money at the current price it retails for.
