Ok so I'm going to be living in halls soon (very exciting), but I noticed in its terms that my rooms total appliances can't exceed 1000 watts. The problem is, my computer uses a 1000 watt power supply. I'm wondering, will my computer draw on all 1000 watts if its idling/playing games. I have a q6600 and 4870x2, I know the card is power hungry but not to the point where its taking all 1000 watts?

Will I be safe with my current power supply or am I going to have to downgrade?

You're safe. That PSU is overkill for your CPU and and 4870x2, the word efficiency has probably escaped you :p

Yea I figured I'd upgrade in the future so I left the option open.

As for the full spec of my system, I can hardly remember it was so long ago I made it. It has 4gb of ram and 1 hard drive, 1 22" monitor, so I'm confident now it won't go over 1000 watts. It won't be on that much, I don't intend to be cooped up inside at uni
