Hey,
I was notified via my RSS feed for drivers for my Asus Eee PC 1000HE that a whole host of new drivers made for Windows 7 have just been added to their support site. I went ahead and downloaded all the ones required and flashed the recommended window s7 BIOS file whcih has installed without a hitch. (I already had windows 7 installed but thought if these new drivers are specialized for 7 then i might as well install them) and since the bios flash, I get a message appearing every 5 seconds stating that "Missing Asus ACPI Driver, Please install Asus ACPI Driver.

I downloaded this driver from the asus 1000HE support site: AHCI 8.9.0.1023 and extracted the folder from the zip and opened up device manager and tried to update driver for the device I thought it was but it says that the best driver for that device is already installed.

Any ideas how to get it to install?

If i remove the current drivers then it will not let me install the new ones without a restart and if i do a restart, the microsoft drivers are installed before i even get a chance to install the new ones?

Any ideas guys?

Thanks

Regards,
Neil

AHCI and ACPI are two different things. You're trying to load the AHCI hard drive controller drivers.

I thought the ACPI drivers were downloaded from Windows Update now? If not they used to be included with the Asus Monitoring tools software - or was it the hotkey tools - I can't recall - but there may be one available against one of the other Asus EeePC models.

I know I got one for my 1000H, but can't recall which model it was against :s

Try the WinXP version, under ATK drivers.

I do have one here that seems to be newer, but am out tonight, so if that doesn't work post back and I can upload it for you.

Hey, I installed the Windows XP ACPI drivers for now until Windows 7 ones are made available. I still ahve no idea how to install the AHCI sata drivers?

You'll need to go into Device Manager, under Storage Controllers and find the entry for the Intel AHCI/IDE controller, right click and choose Update Driver Software. Then browse to the unzipped folder with the drivers in it. It could be that the one in Windows 7 is newer than the one provided by Asus. Need to try these new drivers on my Eee.

It's strange they just haven't provided the full Intel package for these drivers :s

Thought I'd take a loook at these drivers for mine....

I don't recommend you install the AHCI drivers, AFAIK the Eee is running in IDE not AHCI mode, with no way to change this in the BIOS so it won't work. I really don't understand why Asus have released this driver unless I am missing something.

Like you the new BIOS borked the ACPI driver but I installed a version I had here and it's fine now.

The Intel chipset drivers are an older version than those provided within Windows 7 - don't install them.

So overall Asus have made a right mess with the drivers they have provided here :s
