my 600w psu has just gone bang with a rather loud crack and a large orange spark:( so time for a upgrade

my system as it stands is
E2180 cpu
evga 680i mobo (1 molex and 8 pin CPU power thingy)
bfg 9800gtx (2 x 6 pin)
Creative Audigy 2 Pro Premium (floppy power connector thingy)
2 x Hitachi HDD's (sata power lead)
DVD drive (molex)
WireLess PCI Card (none)
4 fans (4 molex)

i'm looking at getting a 1000w psu to replace it, so i can hopefully go SLI and maybe 3 way SLI sometime.

how-ever, silence is very very important to me as my pc is liturally next to my bed. also it has to be modular.

been looking at the following
Cosair HX1000
Zalman ZM 1000-HP
Antec Quattro 1000w
Akasa AK-P010FG-BK 1000W PowerMax
BFG 1000w
Thermaltake Toughpower 1000w (bit pricer)
OCZ modXstream 900w (only 900w, but dirt cheap, can get one for 82 quid)

looking to order tonight or tomorrow morning so i can get it on tuesday, so looking for some advice on what to get

thanks
Grant

SLi is relatively crap.

Tri-SLi is super-mega crap.

A new 4870x2 when they're released would beat the SLi'ed 9800gtx's and be more cost effective and require a less powerful PSU.

you're looking at 650w MAX.

not a fan of 2 cards let alone 3, but if you really want SLI then the 900watt, if you can get it for that price.

also for 6 quid more you can get the 1000w OCZ Sli ready.
