Ive just got my new 8500 and p5e mobo and upon firing it up the system is reporting the cpu is 100C!!

The mobo has bios 0702 on it and i know my cpu isnt really supported until 090* but should i be worried by the temperature or is this just a case of the bios reporting it wrong?

Im afraid to leave the PC on for the time to flash the bios for fear of cooking me new CPU.

Also what would be the best way to flash the bios when i dont own a floppy drive?

Thanks for any help you could offer.

paste is applied ok but tbh im not so sure about the heatsink.

Its the default intel heatsink and i had a nightmare trying to install it and tbh im still not sure its on right now. I couldnt get the pins to lock but ive almost broke me thumbs pushing them down, they didnt click but i cant seem to pull them off now with a good amount of force so im hoping they have finally locked!

Btw the mobo reporting the temp as 100c from the instant i turned it on.
