I have an old Belinea 21 inch CRT monitor i use for my gaming rig and I have the old Xp problem that vista had when it was fairly new O/S.
I can not get 100hz working within games for Vista, I have tried Riva Tuner, and another program I cant think off hand and tried twiddling with wthin Catylst control panel at those settings. I know most people have LCD now but there must be some die hard CRTers out there?

Vista is a real pain in the ass for this one. Can you select 100hz in the resolution you use on desktop without unticking "hide modes that this monitor cannot display".

The way vista handles monitor drivers is foul. As far as i remember, it disregards the software driver and uses EDID, which is the firmware on the monitor itself. I had a CRT with a badly programmed EDID that didn't contain the best refresh rates and resolutions the monitor was capable of and so i wasn't allowed to use them. In the end the only solution was this:

i don't think this is your problem though, but thought it might be some use.

now edid is disabled, vista will use the software driver. Try installiung a better 21" driver that has better support for refresh rates. Once you install a driver that allows 100hz to be displayed without unticking "hide monitors that mode cannot display", a refresh rate force in rivatuner should work.

let me know if this works

OMG Reforce proggy works sought of. I have dont think this is designed for vista. I used to use this in XP sure i had tried in vista before. Just need to test it a bit more. thank you anyway. Neologan will try your way if i start having probs with Reforce. Thx for your help guys

It works 100% in Vista64.

I only use it when some games wont accept my own overrides in Nvidia CP.

I had no need to use in XP as the Nvidia CP overrides worked on all games.

Oh Refresh lock not working properly, tried Bioshock no chance, cant get over 60hz. Ok so i will try the driver update as suggested by neologan, but dunno where to start, .inf monitor drivers wont work have you any suggestion where i can get a monitor profile that will support 100hz up to 1280x1024 and supported for Vista?

in the database that comes with vista :)

go to display settings, advanced, monitor, properties, driver, update driver, browse my computer, let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer, untick show compatible hardware, and now select a driver for a high quality 21/22 inch CRT from Iiyama or the likes.
