Brother has bought a gti, the chap who is selling it him was very honest and told him it suffered a HGF. All the work was done properly (head needed skimming) and he has reciepts to prove this. It also has a FSH.

Anything to worry about?

Friends 106 GTi also suffered HGF. Got it fixed and it was fine afterwards. All these HGFs on 106 GTi's, they must have fitted a K-series engine :p

I wouldn't worry tbh.

As long as he has valid invoices of the work being done and the car runs sweet, I wouldn't worry.

might be worth getting the block looked at, sometimes damage can be caused to the block if the HGF isnt caught early iirc.

I would say you have nothing to worry about provided the work has been carried out properly and the original reason (if any) for the failure has been cured i.e. overheating caused by blocked rad or something similar.
