106 Problem

Hi all,
My mate has just got a 106 and is having a few problems when moving off. When he starts to move off and accelerates in 1st gear the car makes a squeaking and a squealing noise this is only in 1st gear tho anyone got any ideas or had the same problem.

I thought it was the fan belt but that was changed last week and it’s still doing it.

you say just got, literally? was the noise there when test driving?

well not just just got it it only started this week he had it bout a month.

He says there is another really strange noise when he first starts the engine cant discribe that yet he bringing it round tonight.

He has just had the Air +Oil Filter changed and some magnitec oil put into it if this helps.

Clutch release bearing.

Or worse, differential.

So not good then? The car has only done about 37,000 miles tho :eek:

try tightening the alternator belt
