Hi

I'm looking to make a £200 ish GPU upgrade to my system and looking at the smaller 1060 6gb cards.

(still running a 2500k based system)

Anyone have any suggestions as to the best option as they seem very similar - Zotac or EVGA?

Thanks

Does it have to be a mini? £200 could be better spent on a second hand 1070 or if going new a 580.

Thanks - my case is a little cramped (currently have a rather ancient GTX 760) which has always been a bit tight and the thought of a shorter card is quite appealing. Also I've been an NVIDIA person for years so habit really :-)

Yeah but that 2060 is just over 50% mire than his budget . Better off waiting for the non rtx version. But how much closer that is to £200 is guesswork .

Well i took a punt on an EVGA 1060 6gb SC I found for a good price - installed it and running fine - problem is my CPU fan is now running at full pelt, loud and the temps are high. Think the extra heat from the 1060 may have tipped the balance, either that or my CPU heatsink may have got slightly moved in the process. It has been on there for 7 or 8 years! So currently gone back to the old 760 wondering how to proceed. Could be new build time.

If it's been on for 7 years then it's time for a full strip down and clean. Get that CPU cooler off, clean the TIM, clean out the fan and the fins and reapply new TIM. Get your case cleaned out too so airflow isn't hampered.

The EVGA 1060 SC is still a blower-style cooler so it's not dumping heat back into your case, so if suddenly your CPU cooler was running full tilt then I'd say you've knocked it so it's not making proper contact.

Strip down, clean and rebuild and see how you fare.

Yeah agreed - already took the heat sink off (arctic 7 freezer pro) and it came off real easy and the paste is pretty much dried out and looks patchy. So ordering some new paste in to replace it.

Thanks
