Gtx1060 or Rx480

there about the same price £180 - £220 what is the best option, or is there a different card at the same price point?

I got a XFX GTR a few weeks ago after being in the same conundrum. No regrets, the card is fast and looks good.

Another vote for the RX480, preferably the Powercolor Devil one. Has the highest factory overclocks and really good price.

I need to buy a card tomorrow, im umming and arring between the 480 8gb devil and the kafa 6gb 1060.

My.main concern is, os there really much more headroom for driver improvements on the 480, seeing as it's seen quite a boost already, assuming nvidia won't go crazy on driver improvements.

I've seen the res evil 7 benches but I'm thinking the game is in desperate need of a patch rather than driver improvements so im not paying too much heed to that.

Even the old AMD 7970 has seen improvements in recent drivers so I wouldn't rule out future improvements for the 480.
As for Nvidia ask yourself the question, has there been any improvement in performance of the 1060 since it's launch? Also they are known for neglecting their older cards once a new architecture is released so expect stagnant or poorer performance rather than any gains in the future.

RE7 seems to use nearly 8GB on the 1080 and over 7GB on the 480 so I suspect it's the 6GB VRAM of the 1060 that might be causing the poorer performance. They will probably have to patch the driver or game to dynamically adjust detail to gain performance on the 1060 (like Mirrors Edge Catalyst).

The XFX GTR 480 Black Edition is the best one for overclocks and cooling overall so go for that if you go AMD.

RX480 Devil!!!!!

480 is just getting better and better 1060 would need a LOT of driver work to keep now now.

When was the last time we saw NV cards maturing with drivers? If I remember correctly was way back with the 5xx series.
Even my GTX1080 lost perf between August and November drivers!!

And see the 780 Ti/TB. Their perf with current drivers is at best the same as used to be. R9 290X is completely "new card" these days compared to 2013 when it came out!!!!
