1070, 1070ti or 1080, so confusing.

i have been trying to make sense of the differance between these cards.

First the 1070, it seems a solid place to be as a step up from my gtx970 but
by the time i have gone down the list of 1070 cards i am almost into 1070ti
money.. hhmm.

So, lets look at the 1070ti, this card is supposed to "fill the gap" between a
1070 and 1080, but looking at the memory, its the same amount on all 3,
1070 and 1070 ti are the same speed and the 1080 has it in the bag with
10gbps over the 8gbps of the others.
Now hold on a min, them cuda cores are not in the middle at all, in fact the
1070ti is snapping at the heels of the 1080, so thats good isnt it..

Not so fast there partner, again the 1070ti is almost, and in some cases, more
expensive than the 1080, aaarrrrggghhh.

so, where do i put my money, and why.

I think one of the cheaper 1070tis is a good option. It will be as fast, or near as makes no difference as a 1080, and comfortably faster than a 1070. Memory makes little difference from what I can see, I wouldn't worry about that.

i seem to be in 1070ti territory at the moment, the one i want is only £20 more than the 1070 i wanted.

Well put it this way £200 more and your getting 50% more performance

And then a bit more when you overclock it.

In my opinion just get a 1080 or 1080Ti. Both 1070 and 1070Ti are overpriced.

Keep an eye on the MM. I very nearly bought a 2nd one for Sli.....But VR doesn't support it.

I would wait for benchmarks on Nov 2nd. But, the 1080 seems like the better option as it comes with Destiny 2 at the moment. You can either keep the copy, or sell it to make your 1080 cost the same as a 1070ti (but with more performance).

Yea the GTX 1070ti is an odd one. It exists solely to outperform the Vega 56. At it's current pricing I can't see why anyone would buy one over a GTX 1080.

Think of it in cost per frames. The 1070 can be had under £350 now but the 1070ti is coming in over £400 and in some cases you're only looking at £40-50 more for the 1080. The 1070ti seems to fill a very very small gap in the market.

Don't forget about the 1080 Plus cards with the faster 11Gbs memory . You can get them for the same price as some of the standard cards or even cheaper.

There's 4-5% difference between 10 and 11GBs memory here which isn't inconsiderable

All 3 are good cards I would just wait until you see one of them on sale and grab that.

I was going to get a 1070 but they were all £50 more than I had seen them for previously so didn't get one, then a 1080 came up cheapest I ever seen so I grabbed that instead.

I would just go for the cheapest one with a custom cooler as I don't think any of these custom 1070/1070ti/1080's really give off much heat or make much noise and they all clock about the same. Basically what I'm saying is don't bother paying for something like an asus strix 1070 when you can get cheap brand 1080 for same money.

Black Friday has had its day IMHO. It was good a few years ago when it wasnt so mainstream but now its no better than say the January sales.

The 1070 has been sub £300. Still too much for a card thats 18 months old IMO.
