1070 SLI pc restarting while gaming

Hello all.

I've recently added another 1070 for SLI. My problem is when gaming under heavy load my pc restarts randomly in certain games. This only happens when I'm overclocking the cards. I don't get any restarts @ stock speeds.

Also they run fine on their own (no SLI) overclocked or not overclocked.

Could this be a PSU issue? I'm using an unknown (EVO LABS i think) brand 750w PSU.

Help much appreciated!

Thing is not every PSU is equal plus they degrade over time. Once a PSU is ushed to its maximum, its fair more likely to have a hiccup which causes a system reboot.

As I have said already, you are using 250W of of maximum 750W PSU for your cpu alone.

Thats 500W Maximum left for your two cards, mobo, hard drives, other cards etc which isnt a lot when overclocked each 1070 can be using up to 250W

Probably why your system is fine until you overclock your cards.

I always like to never go above two thirds of the maximum of a psu so on that basis you want a 1100W or bigger PSU personally.

Im a bit out of touch as to what the best current brands are with PSU but look in the forum section on here or I always swear by Johhnyguru reviews http://www.jonnyguru.com/

Would this PSU do: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cougar-gx-v3-1050w-80-plus-gold-modular-power-supply-ca-025-cu.html

Thanks for the replies guys. My suspicions were correct on the PSU. I've also noticed I'm running out of RAM while gaming at 4k maxed out. Nearly all my games throw an 'out of memoy' or 'memory low' issue. Increasing the page file to 16GB fixes it but not recommended for long term use. So it's a new PSU and more RAM lol :(

There is no way you should be running out of ram. Until last week I had 16Gb and never ever saw a message to say that I was running out of ram. I upgraded to 32Gb for other reasons.

You did install 64 bit version of windows?

Yeah I get errors from windows saying 'low on system memory' or 'out of system memoy' while gaming. Only on 4k though. Increasing the page file in virtual memory to 16GB fixes the problem. I'm running win10 x64.

Tbf, is it really worth £100+ in order to run your 1070's overclocked for a few more fps? I'd personally run them at stock and be happy I saved the dosh tbh :D

But then again I run a pair of FTW's for 3440 res so I'm probably overkill :p

I get an extra 10-15fps maybe more while overclocked. and thats very welcome when playing at 4k lol.

You guys have got me all paranoid now about the possibility of my PSU dying and taking everything with it!!! Your right ive skimped on my PSU on a rig thats worth about £1500+. Why do PSUs take other parts with it when it dies? Surely theres some kind of protection against this? Even if it's a top brand?

I'll be getting a new PSU sharpish.

A friend of mine has just told me some guy is selling a EVGA 1000w G1 Supernova for £100. He said its a unwanted brand new unopened sealed rma replacement. Worth it?
