1070 SLI very poor performance

Send back both 1070's and get a 1080. Saves all the hassle of SLI and you get almost the same performance for less power and less headache.

i dont think overclockers will accept a return, im within the 14 day window but i have opened both packets and installed both the cards, even if they accept the return they will probably take off a huge amount as a penalty :(

However on one of the gpu's the back side, the ROG logo led lighting is deformed, it lights up half way through but the functionality of the cards work

maybe a 1080 would have been a better idea, and another for the future.

Well first I dont understand why you decided to go from 980ti to 1070 is sort of equal performance.

Second SLI isnt really ideal, you wasting hardware as things dont scale linearly performance wise.

Third as to why its worse than 980 SLI I dont know. Maybe pascal scales even worse than maxwell which might be why nvidia decided to reduce their SLI support.

OSD means onscreen display, useful to see temps, clocks, utilisation etc., whilst in a full screen game.

For overclocking every card is different, but you can try to aim for 2ghz clock on the gpu core, and 9ghz on the memory. Also increase the power limit to its max setting (TDP limit not voltage).

Final note, dont use the gpuz figures to see your gpu core speed, as thats just cosmetic figures put in a bios table, use the OSD in a game or bench to see how high your card is clocking. e.g. mine says 1898mhz but clocks up to 2050mhz.

ok, but what about the voltage will that need increasing too?

also the 2ghz that 2000 right on the boost clock?

Doesn't matter, as long as you are within the 14 days. They cannot take off anything as a penalty. You will have to pay return postage though.

After reading your first post again it really sounds like SLI is not enabled and your system is only using one GPU

Have you checked while ingame or benchmarking what the Utilization of both your GPU's is ?
Just would be the very first thing that I would check..

really? wow thats good service from clockers if its true, i might call them 2morrow and try to send one back then, the one with the faulty led, that way hopefully i'll have a reason to send one back

yeah im downloading right now.

unfortunately any reviews online with peeps running 1070s sli 1440p, that way id know what to expect as a indication, but im pretty sure the performance should be the same as 980ti's way past the 60 mark

I dont get all the VR hype, I am 37 and have seen VR come and go about 3-4 times in my life, seems to be gimmicky everytime, I remember as a teenager there was a large VR arcade machine in a games store they used to charge £1 a go. A year or so later VR was dead again. But this time around the hype is bigger then I ever seen in the past.

i visit arcades a lot and ive never ever seen pay as you go vr, the closest ive ever got to vr was a 3 quid cardboard box via my phone and that was shizz, maybe in about 10 years or so...

There used to be a VR machine setup in a local games store, probably about 25 years ago now as I picked up a Megadrive with ESWAT after having a go.

well, VR is the future. Look what kind of companies are investing in it now : Microsoft, Facebook, Samsung, Intel and the list goes on and on. We've got Gear VR, card board, vive, oculus, hololens. This is just the beginning, first gen is always going to be not that great. I've used GearVR and while not perfect it was quite something.

I don't think VR is going away this time.

The difference now is that the technology is reasonably obtainable for domestic use.

When I had a go in the early '90s the equipment was huge and apparently cost an absolute fortune (£100,000 or so).

I don't think it's going away but some issues still persist, ie, the weight/comfort of the units, cyber sickness after extended use, heath and safety concerns including the obvious one of not being aware of your surroundings while using it.

People who game on consoles would call us all idiots for spending what we do on a single GPU. I have no idea why the OP has taken the stick he has in the first page of this thread.

I'm more interested in what is causing the mGPU issues with Pascal, particularly before I end up buying a pair of 1080, or ti or Titans or whatever.
