10700k 4x8 3200 CL16 to 2x16 4000 CL18 - Pointless?

Unless the 2x16 are dual rank modules I Really wouldn’t bother. And even then I probably wouldn’t bother. Especially when gaming at 4k.

Getting obsessed about ram past a basic nice decent level (like 3200 cl16) only matters if you’re a low resolution silly high frame rate type gamer.

Thanks all, yes it would mean selling mine and buying more, thinking it won't be worth the cost.
I will try overclocking mine though just to be nosey. I set it to xmp and have ignored it since.

Well I started with a 2x16 2666 kit that managed 3200 CL14 but wanted better, I was able to sell it for £130 and buy a 3200 kit for £150 that turned out to be Micron E Die which is still running at 4200 CL16 1.55v.

I think that was well worth the £20, but I got super lucky with getting an E die kit at that price.

Its only worth it if you can get a guaranteed Micron E die of Samsung B die kit for not too much more.
