Don't think so at all. 1080 sli seems to be the only true way to play basically every game @4k with high settings. A single 1080 isn't enough to do it properly.

1 is just enough so 2 should keep you good for a long time unless sli isnt supported in which case GG.

I have the money for a system with x2 1080 and a 6800k cpu got around the £2800 mark to spend was looking at building but the savings over a prebuilt system is not worth the hassle

Well if i was getting two lovely 1080s i wouldnt let someone steal the fun of installing them and building unless you get a system with some pro level overclock on the gpus in which case fair enough.

If you have the money and can stomach the loss in value go for it

Personally I went for one with the aim of selling for a single Ti in 9 months, but couldn't justify two at the time anyway so wasn't a hard decision
