Hi guys, I wondered whether any of you have come across anything like this before. I have a 360 connected to a 40" Bravia W series (1080p capable) via a component cable. The 360's menu gives me the option to switch the resolution up to 1080i (is this the best it's capable of?), but when I select that resolution the screen goes blank for a few seconds and then switches back to 720p.
Everything works flawlessly on my PS3 so I can only assume it's something to do with the 360. Can anybody shed any light on why i might be doing wrong? Cheers :)

My mate just got a 40" Sony W LCD, some piece of kit it is

He got a Joytech VGA cable which (in my own opinion) made the picture look pretty washed out and lifeless so I'd recommend doing some research on the VGA cables on the market before diving in.

There have been reports of washed out colours when using VGA and the cure is to adjust your TV settings. Also the JoyTech lead isn't shielded so is prone to interference.

The joytech cables are not as clear as the MS one. But since the spring update they added in some extra settings for the VGA which greatly help it, check in the system blade.

As far as I know the Sony W or X series will not run at 1080p through VGA. The best can get is 1080i with this set using the XB360.

In the latest MS update you will have 1080P support and you can adjust the picture in the system dash using the VGA cable so it shouldnt look wasted out as people used to report

I have both cables - the joytech and MS official VGA cables. The MS is A LOT better, the image quality is very noticable.
