1080i or 720p

both look very good to me, its a 43 inch Sagem DLP...

It wont do 1080p so thats never gonna be an issue...

:D

It varies on the TV / monitor, some like one, some the other. This thread gets started every week,

720p is supposedly better for gaming as it refreshes quicker. I prefer it, although thats native res of my tv, Hitachi 26ld something. ;)

I don't understand how 1080i can be good for a set that has a native resolution of 720p
The 360 has to upscale the image and then the tv has to downscale it again.
I can see how it would be beneficial for a 24" monitor though.

most sets aren't 720p though, they're 1366*768 which makes the world of difference when deciding between 720p and 1080i. I prefer 720p though because the blurry edges in motion on 1080i annoy me.

I couldn't really notice any difference between them on my 26" samsung LCD, so I've since left it on 1080i.

I have tried both and to be honest, i aint seen much difference apart from when i tried the F1 demore on 720....which i thought the colour wasnt as good when set to 1080i....

I use 1080i and think it does look better than 720p, but then again my tv's native res is 1920x1080 so it should look better really and I also don't notice any increase in motion blur either.

I dont know about anybody else but:

I got a new Goodmans 32". - I tried it on 1080i first and didnt think there was much improvement, especially on GRAW it ran slower and the graphics looked like they had been toned down in some places. I then tried 1080p which was even worse. Im now running it on 720P which runs really smooth and everything looked brilliant and even better than that, nothing had been toned down.

The Goodmans is an incredible TV for the price by the way. I might make a thread with some pics if anyone's interested.

720p is better for fast moving gaming(all games basicly), 1080i better for still images. Its a proven fact just google it.

I'd argue that 1080i was only better than 720p for still images if the source material is at 1080p definition, otherwise and in the case of the 360 your just upsampling something from a 720p source which all 360 stuff is internally rendered in. So I'd only use 1080i for looking at content I had put onto the 360 like home photos etc.
