All,

After shamefully neglecting my monitor for numerous of years (5/6 maybe longer) I feel it is deserving of an upgrade.

I currently have a R9 280x (although it is feeling a bit outdated especially on star wars).

Now I would like something for around what the title suggests.

However is it worth my updating to a GTX970 and then getting a G-Sync monitor? R9 280x does not support Freesync and I am flirting with the idea of upgrading the card anyways.

I wouldn't want to go any lower than 25" pref.

Thanks.

You'll struggle to find a 27" G-sync monitor for £300, the closest I could find on OcUK was this one.

I'd upgrade the graphics card first, but the order isn't that important.

G-Sync wasn't a must. Just wondered if it was game changing? If so I will go GFX > Monitor.

If not a screen around the desirables would be great!

If you're short on $ then AMD makes way more sense in the long run. I would never suggest to someone to go Nvidia if they want to buy a new monitor but don't have a fat wallet. Same budget, Nvidia would be 970+Gsync while AMD would be Fury+Freesync, the latter being incomparably better (or even just 390+better freesync monitors within the budget, since there are more to choose from for AMD). Something like LG 29UM67 + MSI 390 looks like a great combo to me. Or AOC G2770PF if prefer high hz over ultrawide.
