I can't get my xbox 360 to work in 1080p through the component on my dell 2407, which find strange seeing as the screen has the resolution to handle it  1080i works though but I can't handle that as the lines annoy me

Anyone else had this problem?

I am pretty sure that the vast majority of TV's currently on the market at least and most likely monitors do not support 1080P. It is technically/physically possible, but a number of factors come in to play, from physical equipment alterations to licencing/ media protection issues.

After a bit of digging around I've seen that the dell can't take 1080p over component but it can using a 360 vga cable, so looks like I'll have to invest in one of those
So if I got a Dell 2007WFP or even a 2407WFP I'd be able to get the Xbox to display on my monitor at 1080p by using a VGA cable?

no as the 2007wfp doesnt support the resoltuion of 1920x1080, but the 2407 does...
