Hi everyone, what are people's thoughts on the following setup for my son's first gaming PC?
It's been years since I last specced a build, by which I mean it's been over 10 years, and my last computer was a prebuild, so I'm a bit rusty.

Also, why the hell are people selling second hand graphics cards for more than buying brand new??? I know crypto and AI has blown the costs sky high, but do people think they can sell for the stupid prices I see on ebay???

Anyway, I was aiming for around £1200. I don't need monitors as I have a couple of spare 1080p, which while not amazing, will be good enough for the time being.
  • Fractal Design Pop Air - £90
  • MSI Pro B840-P ATX - £150
  • Lian-Li 750 80-plus PSU - £120
  • AMD Ryzen 5 7600x - £210
  • Sapphire Radeon RX7600XT 16GB - £300
  • TeamGroup Vulcan EXPO 32GB DDR5 6000Mhz - £80
  • Fury Renegade 2TB NVMe - £132
And, should I be buying additional fans, or stick with the stock ones included in the case and with the CPU? If i should buy more / change, any recommendations?

Thanks :)

The 7600 is slightly slower and comes with a HSF so you could save a few quid there if needed. For £10 and a HSF it's a close thing.
7600 5.1Ghz boost, 3.8Ghz base
7600X 5.3Ghz boost, 4.7Ghz base

The 7700XT is much better than the 7600XT

Go B650 not B840 unless it offers something that you explicitly need (doubtful it does)

Thanks for the recommendations.

So, is this cpu that different to the 7600x, for £10 less?

And vice versa with the gfx? That’s an extra £50 but is the performance worth it?
Not much in terms of performance but for £10 it's nothing, there is the 9600x which is the latest AN5 CPU so compare prices and read reviews.

Yes it's worth it imo The 7700xt is a 1440p gaming GPU and will give higher FPS at 1080p over the rx7600 which isn't a great card for the money. I've redone the build to accommodate the 7700xt to show you what you can achieve but it's up to you how you spend your money and think it's worth it but cost doesn't usually scale the same in terms of performance.

There are lots of options .
