Hey Peeps,

I've got a dilemma and need you to advise (convince) me what to do. My current projector bulb is about to blow and so I'm in a situation where I can either replace the bulb and ensure another 3000 hours of gaming or upgrade :)

On the one hand a new bulb will cost 40 quid and I'm off again! However the problem is the current projector is capped at 720p and I'm looking at grabbing a ps4 for xmas so considering upgrading to an Optoma HD141X for aprox 450 quid. I'm a bit worried the current projector will gimp the PS4 if I continue with it. Do the current gen console make use of 1080 and is this a necessary upgrade in your opinion?

Get an xbox 720 one instead, that's designed for 720p.

I jest. The PS4 does have a lot of games that are 1080p so a new TV would compliment it.

Definitely go for 1080p if you can afford it, getting a PS4 and a 1080p unit will feel like a really good upgrade.

The main issue with getting a new TV is that if imperfections bug you like they do me (backlight bleed/dead or stuck pixels/dirty screen effect (Google it)) then finding one that you're happy with might not be easy. I ended up with a Plasma in the end as all the LED's I tried had quality issues of some kind.

If you're happy with your current projector then it might be worth just percevering until OLED is more affordable.

Cheers peeps you've twisted my arm! I just didn't want to upgrade and then play games at gimp resolution. Old projector is going on the bay in time for xmas and I'm keeping an eye out for a bargain price!
