Hi All

Looking at building a semi-budget Ryzen/AMD PC

For 1080p gamin on 24" Monitor what is the lowest spec Ryzen CPU and AMD GPU combo that people would recommended?

I'll be purchasing a Top end X4700Mobo (hence the semi budget so I have full upgradability in future)

Rather then buying the bottom end, you’d be better off setting a budget and decided what suits your need best. So my questions are:
  • What’s your budget?
  • Do you need OS?
  • Do you need peripherals?
  • Can you use any old parts, like power supplies or storage
  • I guess you want ATX?
  • Do you want 1080p 60fps, or 120+?
  • Are we talking max settings, lowest settings or somewhere in between?
  • Will you be doing anything else with the machine?
The thing about buying a rig that does 1080p 60fps NOW, while it might be a bit cheaper, it might become obsolete quicker than you’d like.

I watched an interestingly my video recently that demonstrated that AMD wasn’t necessarily the only option for a tight budget, but I do agree with you going for AMD.

Why do you need top end X470? It’s really just for features and overclocking power delivery....

I honestly haven't set a upper end budget.

OS isn't required. Ive decided on the InWin 301 case

1080p at max settings, lets say aiming for 144FPS. I'll be pulling an m.2 drive from my laptop and have HDDs lying about. Peripherals not required.

So an amd ryzen combo for 144hz at a minimum, if I can the setup to something higher for £40-50 (or when offers are on ill do that) Just guidelines as to a bare minimium, even if the hardware might be outdated in 6-12months time
