1080TI build! Help!

Hey everyone!

Trying to get my first gaming rig build going. I'm finding the diversity of brands and parts really overwhelming and could really do with some guidance.

I currently game off a Aorus X7 Pro and have been really happy with it but want to get over to the rig scene!

Other than knowing that I would like the build to include a 1080TI and a Aorus MoBo, I am completely stuck with everything else.

Do I go AMD or Intel - If I go Ryzen do I go 1700, 1700X or 1800X
If I go Intel do I go i5 or i7 (coffee lake)

My head is mashed! ^^

I want this to be the best spec'd gaming rig for around £2000 (don't require any peripherals or monitors)

I would really appreciate some guidance with everything else so any help would be mega.

Thanks in advance!

JP

if you're just gonna game, then the 8700k + 1080ti route would be the best.
but prices of ram and graphics cards are just ridiculously extortionate currently.
i'd recommend holding off, if your aorus x7 is doing the job until there's some semblance of sense in this crazy market.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Could you link me that could or even better (if only a slight bit cheeky) link me a build?

Cheers man

If we're speccing out of stock items, I'd rather get the evga sc2 for £900. The aorus may cool slightly better, but not £60 better. And evga warranty > gigabyte warranty. Espesh if it's registered for the 5 year warranty

Evga rep has been Mia since some of their cards caught fire haha. Prob why gigabyte have stepped up their presence and it's hard not to miss . Don't get that involvement with any vendors , normally ship to reseller and thats it , which is a shame
And the SC isn't the best cooler at all and louder then the rest. would only choose FTW from them due to triple fan design but that's still let down by being a two Slot design . Ti is a hot chip to cool down .
Perfect card for slapping on an AIO kit though ! Can't deny that :D
MSI Duke and Trio gaining more traction then their traditional Dual design, longer but better cooling and Trio is 3 slot to dukes 2 .

Don't need involvement, just need their warranty to, 'just work', and evga certainly does.

Whilst that's true, the issues have been fixed now, and every company has a belly up moment, so I don't see how it should impact buying choice currently.

Correct it isn't, but as I said, it's not £60 worse. As an owner of an sc black, it's more than capable of handling a 1080ti. My gentle typhoons are louder than the GPU even when gaming.

Think Gigabyte has help users here claim RMA without receipt or even out of warranty . Don't think I've ever seen another brand do that .
And if a card failed RMA, you've got no leg to stand on as reps can push it in your favour .

Cards catching fire wasn't the issues, just the fact rep hadn't appeared since which is a shame, use to give live updates for deliveries and push stock to OCUK which was great ! And had good interaction with members .

Can also see how helpful AMD rep has been on here :)
Not for all, but for some , this extra mile . And easier to post to Milton Keynes then EU :)
But Evga 2nd hand warranty , that is a damn good feature ! Helped me sell a few cards quicker then other brands .
Wondering if they would introduce their triple cooler for gtx 1070ti ... Would do well

look for at least a 550w psu

ps: remove competitor names.

true, although, if this becomes a trend, i wonder if giga reps will then be banned from doing this...

yeah they did

I wouldn't buy a gpu at the minute, as £900+ for a 1080 ti is daylight robbery.

I wouldn't build a pc now full stop!! Gpu and memory prices are just disgraceful and I can't see things improving anytime soon. Intels cpu's and motherboards are little better. These price hikes could spell the end of pc gaming if they keep rising.
