Hello

i recently purchased an EVGA SC blakc edition 1080ti. great card from my initial testing compared to my previous R9 390.

seems to boost to 1950 ish by its self which is fine but when i run Heaven benchmark 4.0 under extreme settings. the card is pretty much smashing the powerlimit constant.

does this sound normal for a 1080ti?

i seem to be able to run a +35 on the core and a +500 on the memory although i did have the memory at 700 before i saw any stuttering or artifacts. i gave up on the Core as the power limit was always being hit.

also to add. i only game at 1080p. so when i jumped on PUBG the card sat at 2012 on core no problem what so ever.

is it just a case of the bench mark is just pushing the card hard and hitting powerlimit is actually really expected?

if thats the case ill go back and start cranking the core up

Its normal for the cards to hit and go few % over the power limit when under heavy load, more so stress testing and trying to crank out as much FPS as possible. With pascal Boost 3.0 is pretty aggressive and provided temperature is not a issue (which affects boost) the card will use as much power as it can to hit as high clock speed it can (Ignoring any frame cap / V-Sync in place)

Are you raising the power limit? I've found my highest clocks and highest Firestrike GPU score were with power limit at stock or +6% on my 1070. Basically forcing a power limit seems to get it to stick at high boost clocks - maybe a little lower than peak boost, but it stays there. Watch the voltage too as more voltage means more power, whether card is stable or not.

Mine's under water but I imagine the behaviour would be the same on air.
