Been having issues with my 1080ti recently. I manage about 15 - 30 mins of any game and i either crash to desktop with a black screen / artifact and lock up then crash to desktop / completely hard lock and need a reset.

Windows logs show video error and recovering afterwards i assume after closing the gpu intensive task.

Gpu-z all looks correct, pci3 etc

Drivers have been cleaned and reinstalled plenty

Heat may be an issue but dont really get higher than say 82-83c

My gpu performance is down also down about 20% on unigine heaven on what it should be aswell as crashing regularly while running the benchmark.

Any ideas from OcUK would be appreciated, thanks guys.

So just ran unigine again, got upto 78c, no thermal throttling in gpu-z and crashed to desktop.

I'll try underclocking now. Surely if it only doesnt crash while underclocked thats an RMA?

Is the thing still under warranty? Excellent. Have you tried a different GPU? Any other sort of stress test? (CPU / RAM / IO.)

Yeah, if your able to rma then your sorted.

The artifacting and crashing is usually a sign that the Gpu will go pop soon, my bros lasted about 4 days after it started then dead.

Upgrade your drivers. It might not help, but I was having bad BSOD's before I upgraded, now I'm back to stable. Worth trying if you haven't already.

Now am i getting this wrong I'm looking at the stats for my card online.

They say its 1569 MHz base core clock and 1708 MHz OC Boost Clock.

Now when i start a benchmark, bearing in mind ive not oc'd this card at all, it boosts upto 1910. I'm just trying now to limit this boost in afterburner to see if it solves anything

It always boosts more than the rated boost clock even at stock, just move the slider left to -150 on the core clock then that's lowing boost by -150 over stock.

If you are running it out the box no tweaks with latest drivers and it's CTD and it's still in warranty I'd RMA.

Okay SO !

Just ran with -120 on the core and -100 on the mem and it ran through 5 times of heaven, got upto 80c at one point, dropped about 30fps but still it didnt crash out.

It is under warranty still yeh. So reckon its an RMA ?

Forgot to say my psu is waaaaay overspecced for the system and as old as the card about 2 years so shouldnt be an issue there.

Yeh, if the card can't run at stock without artifacting and crashing then that's a certain RMA.

If you have had it for a while then it will need a clean and the TIM replacing.

Ive just bought a used GPU (1080ti) and temps would cap at 83c then it throttled looking at msi afterburner.

I've slapped a block on it today and from closer inspection (cleaning old TIM off) it was dry as hell and not doing it's job.

So I would give it a clean and replace tim to start with
