I will be exclusively gaming at 1440p resolution, on a 144hz panel, and will be building in a months time (end of November).

Once the prices of the new intel chips normalize here in the UK, I've calculated the setups will cost pretty much the same, give or take a few £.

If this pans out how I predict it will, which set-up would you say is most advisable? Both parts lists can seen here (https://uk.************.com/user/Danellijah/saved/) for anyone who cares to look. Many thanks

After being disgusted with the price gouging here at the release of the latest intell chips I made the switch to AMD and bought the 2700x and also updated my gpu to a 1080ti , no regrets what so ever runs like a dream and scored 1820 in cinebench without me changing a thing.

The price of a new 9600 or indeed 8700k will have to fall a hell of a way to make them comparable with the AMD 2700x!

There's a lively debate about this in the CPU section I've been following (worth a read definitely following the updated intel benchmarks published by PT) - long and the short of it seems to be the Intel chips are faster, but not by much in the majority of games and the price difference would be much better spent on a better graphics card.
