10900k not showing all threads

Hey, so I've got a new Dell Precision 3640 from work, about a week old, and I've noticed today that it's only showing 10 logical cores in both task manager and HWinfo64. When I first got the PC it was fine, it's only today that I've noticed the change.

Any ideas on what could be causing it? Either Windows or BIOS or something?

EDIT:
Okay so I checked the BIOS (what a weird BIOS it has) and for some reason Hyperthreading got disabled... Enabled it again and now it's showing all 20 threads as expected. I'm a little confused about why it disabled itself though...

Check hyperthreading is enabled In the bios, it should be enabled by default but worth checking.


Right click the graph, and select change graph to logical processors. Then it'll show you the amount of threads.

Yeah, so I found out it disabled itself in the BIOS, but I have no idea why. I re-enabled HT and it seems to be showing all 20 threads now. I'll keep an eye on it in case it happens again, but any ideas on why it may have disabled? There was a firmware/bios update which could've done it I guess.

Maybe it was the update , it's sorted now so keep a check.

So I've booted up this morning and noticed fans going wild trying to open a couple JetBrains IDEs, I open up Task Manager and lo! 10 cores, 10 logical threads... It's disabled itself again! Any ideas of what I could look at before I head to Dell? Same as last time - Hyperthreading disabled in the BIOS.

Updating the bios can solve a lot of issues but comes with risks, i would be reluctant to do this if it's a work computer.
 
I doubt this is the reason, but its not something to mitigate the security issues of intel is it ? something dell are forcing ? Probably not but thought worth mentioning.

Not got any security software yet. I'll likely be sorting out Sophos and Bitlocker when we get there though. Currently just running bog-standard Windows Security.

When re-enabling HT just now I ticked the "Save as custom user profile" box in case that makes a difference...

EDIT: I literally just did a regular restart and HT is disabled again! Time to restart (again) and re-enable for the day..

They won't, it's a fresh PC ordered straight to my home. The first time I booted it to do software setup it was fine. I have updated the BIOS through Dells update centre since then though to get all updates sorted early.
