Merry Christmas to all
hope my post finds you all well with this covid thing around.
I have been looking to this forum but now i am lost so i had to sign up and make my questions.
I recently jumbed from 9900K + Aorus Master to 10900K + MSI Z490 Ace.
The 10900K i received was used because i found thermal paste residues on it.
Before i sent it back i said to try and see how it performs. I have to say that i am new on oc and dont have much experience.
I got a custom water loop (480) just for the cpu.
I tried 5.1 with 1.28v LLC2 (1.31v max at hwinfo) and tried prime95 small fft. After 2h 4 threads stopped and max temps went up to 90*C.
Is this normal? Should i try again? Resit my cpu block maybe? Or just sent it back and get another chip? Realbench dont have any issues running 5.2Ghz 20 loops, max temps 75-80 i think
Thank you in advance

I am pretty sure that this cpu was used before. The weird is that the shop from where i bought it is one of the most known shops here. And their shops are closed due to lock down almost 2 months now. So either the cpu has been installed on a pc build which has been cancelled or someone has a gooooood friend on the shop warehouse. I am pretty sure it had thermal paste residue on it since it left marks on my fingers.
I tried to find that graph but no luck....
Yea i had avx on, tried small fft with L1 L2 L3 and avx on.
You are right maybe i ll geshould consider keep it and try once more with 1.29v or 1.285v and see what will happen?
I dont really care so much about the oc, but it would be nice for once to achieve a good oc... just for my ego.

Edit
I am trying again with 1.29 and ac on xD
20mins now max temp 88 will try get 8h.. it should be ok or not

Box had 2 seals on bottom. One was opened but not cutted, the 2nd one was really easy to open without brake it...
outside of the box, the cpu inside that plastic protective box, had obvious 2 vertical signs like scratches, but i thought are marks on the pastic cover.
As for the one opened sealed i thought from humidity or something...
but when i took the cpu out while i was ready to install it to my mobo, i saw thermal paste residues on my fingers... and the 2 scratches from the cpu almost dissapeared.
But if the chip isnt bad i dont really care since warranty is there ... but is it?

i will try again to find it (if msi has one)
Just finished 2.5h prime95 @5.1Ghz with no avx offset without any issues. 1.285v max temps 88 but mostly around 83*C max.
I am trying realbench now
