My Leon Cupra ST lease is up in April, and I'm tempted to go back to used cars, as there just don't seem to be any decent lease offers around.

I'm looking for something up to 10yrs old, nippy, nice to drive, reliable, automatic if possible (never thought I'd write that sentence!), tac band K or below, etc, etc.

Thinking something along the lines of Octavia VRS, Mini Clubman Cooper S, Leon FR 1.4/1.8, BMW 328i, any other options to consider please?

Edit: I only do about 5k a year, so petrol options please. :)

Thanks for the replies, already had a 2005 Mk1 VRS estate, and a 2008 Mk2 VRS estate, so it's probably the way forward, might try and save up a little extra to get a Mk3 this time. :D

I have driven the mk3 245 a number of times with the autobox. Very nice car to drive and ticked all the owners boxes. The infotainment will be very similar to that of the cupra too, if that is a bonus to you at all?

I've just had a nearly new Ford Galaxy as a courtesy car, and the infotainment on that was horrendous. As long as it's got USB and DAB for my new favourite Scala Radio, I'll be happy enough.

I think the Skoda is the best option personally. It's big set of criteria for the budget especially when you add in an auto box and reliability.

I was going to suggest a Focus ST estate but those are manual, still maybe worth considering.

Skoda VRS all day

I'm hoping to sneak into the Mk3, something along those lines - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201910183461157?atmobcid=soc3

I'm still a member on Briskoda too, so I'll stick a wanted ad on there if that's what I decide to go for.

MK3 Octavia VRS would be great if you can find one with sensible mileage under £10k. Not a particularly exciting car but a great all rounder and mine has been faultlessly reliable. Quite similar to the Cupra you had too in terms of same engine smaller turbo, same gearbox, same switchgear etc.

Audi S4 Avant B8, get it revo'd and you'll not stop smiling.

S4, great shout, didn't realise they'd come down that much in price.

Octavia, don't mind the lack of excitement, they just do what they're supposed to do.

C Class, dirty diesel, but I'm sure they must do a warm petrol version too? I'll have a Google.

Yea, I paid a little more than 10 last month and have to say it is brisk, well over 400 bhp, still looks fairly unassuming and rides quite well, still room in the back for a run to ikea etc.

And it's almost time to buy another car...

Struggling to find a decent DSG Octavia VRS estate, but I've found a few different models that I'm going to test drive, any opinions most welcome.

2016 Vauxhall Astra 1.4t Sri/Elite Nav

2016 Ford Focus 1.5t Titanium

2016 Seat Leon 1.4/1.8 FR Technology

2018 Skoda Fabia 1.0 110 SE

They're all around £10k, all automatic, all relatively local, and look to be about the best of the bunch available to buy now.

4 months down the line and Im still saying Audi :D though your selections seem to be very frugal on the juice.

This is a good option.

Thanks for the replies. Can't go diesel as I only do low mileage, the S4 looks fantastic, but a potential money pit (as are all cars I suppose!), and the Leon is probably a sensible choice coming from a similar car.
